Microbiology Class
It is well known throughout Lewis University that nursing students have it tough. As a sophomore 1 nursing student, we have all already completed 5 science classes and we are all required to take Microbiology this semester. While it is easier in some aspects as compared to A&P 1+2 and Organic/Biochemistry, it is also harder in other aspects. The nice thing about microbiology is that we know what to expect; every Friday we all have either a quiz or a test in micro, which makes life so much easier on us all because its not like how our anatomy classes where we'll take a quiz on Monday, take notes on Tuesday, have another quiz on Wednesday, and possibly a test on Friday! But then some of the draw backs about microbiology which can make it hard is the introduction of a slew of new vocabulary words that we've all never heard of before, let alone are able to pronounce. Lets have some fun shall we... if your reading this please attempt to say the words, Rhabdovirus and Orthomyxovirus. Some of you may have had no problem saying them, others may have struggled immensely. In simple terms, those long scary words mean Rabies and Influenza(the flu). The current quiz we are all studying for, for this week includes knowing everything about 30+ viruses and the life cycle of a virus... While it is still a difficult class, overall I feel the class is very interesting and will greatly help us as the future nurses of America as it is vital to know about all the germs and microbes that are all around us.
